Asus Eee Pad Transformer tablet undercuts iPad 2

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer can now be bought for only £361, undercutting the entry-level iPad2 16GB Wi-Fi by a tasty £38.

If you're interested, you’ll need to move quickly as the offer runs at Comet until April 13 but it includes free delivery and £18 cashback on the suggested RRP. Just enter the code 5OFF for your saving.

While it may not have the desirability of its ubiquitous rival, the Eee Pad's specs hold up pretty well. Running on Android 3.0 Honeycomb, it has a 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen and is powered by an Nvidia Tegra 2 SoC running at 1GHz, 1GB RAM and a passable 16GB of onboard storage for your multimedia needs.

Other features include HDMI, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing one. Fully charged, the battery manages a respectable eight hours. If you want the keyboard docking station thrown in, it’ll bump up the price to £407. The accessory can provide with an additional eight hours battery life as well as two USB ports.

Its more expensive rivals include the Motorola Xoom and the Acer Iconia A500, both of which will be vying for space in the increasingly cluttered Android tablet marketplace.
