Internet porn ban is a concept that sounds almost farcical in its enormity but the Brisith government has announced it intends to force internet service providers to restrict all web-based pornography to an opt-in service in an attempt to prevent minors from exposure. Elsewhere in web land and on an equally grand scale, Facebook has today been valued at a reported $56 billion (£36 billion) a hefty sum only further eclipsed by predictions that this value will rise to $200 billion by 2015.

COD: Black Ops might well be close to two months old now but the first person shooter is still going strong today claiming top spot of the Christmas all format UK gaming charts, its fifth week atop the pile in six weeks since arrival. Looking to continue the popularity of the latest Call of Duty edition, developers Treyarch has announced the first Black Ops downloadable content that will launch on February 1st exclusively for the Xbox 360 bringing new multiplayer maps to the dominant game release.
Upcoming phone releases have been given a positive boost today as news landed that Samsung's Google Nexus S is to be on the receiving end of a tasty price drop ahead of launch as SIM-free price tags have more than £100 snipped off prior to arrival. In other smartphone news, Nokia is rumoured to be preparing Windows Phone 7 touting handsets for launch with the Finnish company having instigated talks with Microsoft over use of the mobile OS.
Tablets and eReaders are expected to be atop many a Christmas wish list this year with the iPad expected to take top honours. The many new iPad owners milling around in January looking for content are expected to receive a Daily offering from media mogul Murdoch as News Corp's upcoming iPad paper readies for a January 17th arrival. On the eReader front Sony has declared that its latest batch of electronic books "will sell out around the world" in the final Christmas shopping push.
