Having sold their ten-billionth song on iTunes back in February last year, Apple are continuing the tradition of the $10,000 gift voucher for all things ten billion-related as the number of apps downloaded from the App Store ticks toward the magical 1-and-nine-zeros mark (ok, so it's only an American billion, but still, a thousand million ain't bad).

To be eligible for for the $10K prize voucher you must be 13 years or older and a legal citizen of a participating country. Downloading free apps counts as well, so if you're serious about chasing down the prize there's no need to break the bank.
Currently the counter is at around nine-billion-seven-hundred-and-ninety-thousand, with some 500 apps being downloaded every second (although that will probably increase as the ten billion mark approaches). You can follow the counter at the link below.
