The rugged WG1 compact camera which is both shockproof and crushproof, is also able to withstand a freefall from 1.5 metres high and the pressure of a weight of up to 100 Kg. If you are snapping in extreme cold conditions the WG1 is also cold proof up to -10°C, while swimmers can snap fishes in the sea at up to 10 metres.

The Optio WG1 GPS boasts almost identical features but additionally includes geotagging courtesy of a built-in GPS function automatically storing your position. That means when you glance over them at home, you can locate the photos on Google Earth for instance.

In the snapping department, both house a 14-megapixel CCD sensor, a wide-angle 5x optical zoom, and utilize a 2.7 inch LCD screen with a 230 000 dots resolution. There 's also HD video recording (1280x720), and an “enhanced microscope” function allowing you to enlarge pictures by up to 6 times.

Offering something a little more on the stylish side, the K-5 DSLR  now sports a shiny new finish to go with its 16-Megapixel shooting prowess. Other changes include a redesigned handle for greater comfort, and an update with the latest firmware.

Three pancake lenses (smc DA 40mm f/2.8,  smc DA 21mm f/3.2 AL and smc DA 70mm f/2.4) will also be available in silver for the K-5.

The WG1 which comes in black/blue and in purple is set to retail at £269 and the WG1 GPS (available in green and grey/black) at £299. Pricing for the K-5 has yet to be confirmed but there will only be 50 available in the UK. All three models are up for grabs in March 2011.
